Blessed with 161 Years!

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  Welcome to Bethlehem, an evangelical, confessional, and liturgical Lutheran congregation founded in 1861.  Along with our sister congregation, Zion Lutheran (5 miles east), we are members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.  Located in the rural countryside of Altamont, we invite everyone to join us in hearing the Word of God and receiving His gifts of forgiveness of sins and salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Manley.

“Let us go over to Bethlehem to see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

(Luke 2:15)

CID Gift to All Bethlehem Members!

The Central Illinois District and the Church Extension Fund has sponsored a grant of $20,000 to give congregations like ours free subscriptions to Ramsey+ for a full year.  This means that every household of our congregation can freely access all the resources of Dave Ramsey.  There’s no catch.  There’s no automatic subscription.  It’s simply free.

Why?

It is the duty of every Christian to serve God and his neighbor with whatever God has equipped you.  God commands us to:

  • “help to improve our neighbors’ possessions and income” (explanation of 7th Commandment)

  • “Each must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7).

  • “each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper [for the collection] 1 Cor. 16:2).

  • “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt. 6:20).

 God promises:

  • “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich He became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich” (2 Cor. 8:9).

The Central Illinois District wants to support good stewardship and equip the saints with biblical principles that will help our families manage money faithfully.  Bethlehem’s Budget Committee and Church Council support this opportunity and encourage everyone to participate so that the Gospel would be preached, the Lutheran education at ALIS would continue to be supported, and that we would together grow in faith and mission that more sinners would be forgiven through Jesus Christ.

How It Works

1 member of each household can login using the link below, but spouses are to use Ramsey+ together as part of your family devotions and bible study.  Your 1-year subscription begins when you login.  Don’t wait!  Deadline to login is June 2022.  Thanks be to God for this generous gift opportunity for all of us.
